A few weeks ago I tried making some Energy Balls after tasting one from Carmanah Pizza in Lake Cowichan. They are so tasty! I thought it would be a great recipe to try as it is so important to have a quick nutritional snack while breastfeeding, or on the go with baby. I just winged it and I love them! This is what I did.
I added together oats, peanut butter, hemp seeds, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and honey with a little bit of maple syrup. I feel like with this recipe is so customizable and you can add or take away anything as your please.
- 1 cup of oats
- 1/4 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup of hemp seeds
- 2 tbsp of maple syrup
- 1 tbsp of honey
- 1/2 cup of peanut butter
- Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix together until well combined
- Refrigerate for at least half an hour
- Roll into bite sized balls*
I refrigerated the balls after rolling just to get them a little bit more firm. They are so tasty! I stored them in the fridge in a sealed container, but you are also able to freeze in a freezer safe container or bag!
Anybody have any variations of this recipe they want to recommend?
